
As a replacement for the canceled eurovision song contest (ESC) 2020, stefan raab and the television station prosieben are planning a "new, free european song contest". It is to be held on 16. May 2020 in poland under all "current legal requirements and (…) requirements of the health authorities" and "free european song contest" heiben.
This had originally been the date of the canceled ESC. Raab wants to produce the show, as the station announced on tuesday (31. March 2020) announced. Prosieben clarified on inquiry of the german press agency that this action is no april joke. The broadcaster quoted raab (53) as saying: "music unites many people, especially in difficult times. This is the birth of a new free european song contest."
